I wanted to share a few Backpacking Hacks with you in partnership with netzerocompany, to help you prepare for your summer hiking trips #ad🏕
Silicone Sealer Bags - Use these for cooking and food storage! I’ve been doing this for a long time, and find that it makes cleaning up much easier. This way you’re able to properly recycle your backpacking meal tetra packs. As some of you have seen from my stories, I’ve been dehydrating my own meals lately so these are perfect for storing and cooking directly out of. They are both high heat and cold safe, and non-toxic. I use these to store all my bulk item snacks as well!
Bamboo Utensils - The plastic ones harbour bacteria and break really easily. Bamboo is lighter than metal, and these have a long handle to get every last bit of your well-earned meal!
Utilize your local Bulk Section - Get snack items from the bulk section before your trip. You'll use less waste and even save money since it’s cheaper. Be sure to only grab what you need!
Hygiene - I bring reusable cotton face pads that I pre-soak with a face wash or toner. They come with a little laundry bag to store and wash at home later.

Ever since last year, when I started using micellar water, I was bothered by how many cotton pads I was going through. At least one or two a day.
Finally last month I bought reusable “cotton” rounds from netzerocompany . 🌍
So far I really love them! For $25 you get 12 reusable rounds (made with 60% bamboo and 40% cotton), a cotton laundry bag and a really cute narwhal canvas travel bag! The rounds have a soft side and a scrubbier side. They are quiet large and I only need to use one at a time.
I know that my lifestyle is not 100% “net zero”, waste free or plastic free but it is something I’m working on and continuing to learn about. Even the smallest changes can make a difference🙂

Today was an unplanned pamper day! I plucked my brows, painted my nails (including my toes!), cut Dan's hair semi-successfully and he shaved my undercut. And yanno what? It was bloody lovely. 💛

I will admit, I’m not zero waste and sometimes not even low waste. It’s hard to find the balance between reducing our plastic consumption and finding affordable and accessible zero waste food options - especially having to feed a family with allergies and intolerances.
.
But I do try to cut down on my plastic waste as much as I can in little ways. Having my netzeroco goodies has definitely helped with this! From my lunchbox that I can take to shoots, condiment containers to reduce single use sauce containers to beeswax wraps that have not only stopped my use of aluminium foil but has helped us reduce our food waste too!

A hairbrush = a hairbrush is what I used to think... 💁♀️

I had no problem brushing my hair with a thick piece of plastic with plastic bristles until I started to be more conscious of the plastic I used.

The ordinary hairbrush would sit in the landfill for centuries! So it made sense to me switch the way that I brush, whether it be brushing teeth or brushing hair.
