Bamboo Cotton Rounds
Yes. All of our cotton products are made of GOTS certified organic cotton.
Yes. The Bamboo Cotton Rounds can be used with acetone to remove nail polish. We recommend setting aside a few cotton rounds for nail polish removal, as certain colours may stain the pads. After removal, rinse the pads with hot water (same goes for makeup!) to remove the excess polish and acetone before tossing them in the washing machine at a later time.
Shampoo & Conditioner Bar
Sadly, there really is no environmentally friendly way to lather up in a lake. No soaps or shampoos should be used when bathing in natural water systems as all soap affects lake chemistry.
Soaps and shampoos contain detergents, which helps to remove the dirt faster than just with water. Detergents break the surface tension of the water, which reduces the oxygen level in the water, causing harm to fish and other forms of aquatic life.
Even if a soap/shampoo is biodegradable and all natural, it is not safe to put that soap directly into the water. According to the EPA, an ounce of biodegradable soap needs to be diluted in 20,000 ounces of water to be safe for fish. Now imagine if everyone decided to bathe in the lake and you can see how the health of our water ways could be significantly compromised.
Water is an excellent solvent that attaches to dirt and mud and washes it away all on its own. Soap only helps to suspend the dirt that water attaches to and rinses it away more quickly while adding a scent (which only leads to more bug bites when out in nature).
If you feel soap is necessary please do not bath in the lake. Put some water into a pale and bathe 200 feet away from any water source that may exist.

Self Adhesive Kraft Tape
The tape is 50m or 164ft in length.
The inside diameter is about 3” or 7.5 cm.
Our tape is currently made of paper, soy ink, and biodegradable hot melt adhesive.
This version also contains fibreglass string and a thin plastic top layer, though we are working tirelessly to come out with a 100% plastic free version. To find out why there is plastic in our current version and why we are still selling it, please refer to: RE: Kraft Tapes.
Unfortunately, the tapes are not 100% biodegradable. They have a 98% degradation rate but will not compost completely in a compost pile.
In order to make the tape self-adhesive, a membrane had to be added so the top of the tape would not stick to the bottom of the other strand in the roll. The film on top is plastic.
Yes! Press the tape more firmly rubbing it so the adhesive is warmed up slightly. You can try to scrape the surface a little bit with a blade. Or, you can dampen the tape as water can remove potential dust on the adhesive and/or occasionally reactivate the adhesive.
Remember the tape will not stick on top of each other because it's self-adhesive (in order for the tape to roll and unroll, the surface is not sticky to itself).
Silicone Baking Cups
Yes. They are oven safe up to 220C/428F.
All of our silicone products are made from 100% FDA and LFGB certified food grade silicone. They are free of chemicals including BPA, BPS, and other phthalates.
Laundry Strips
Our Laundry Strips are made in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
Yes, there is PVA in our laundry strips.
PVA and Starch are what gives the strips the paper-like carrier matrix. It is water soluble, biodegradable and has no adverse eco impacts. All pods and other dissolvable sheets use PVA. Straight liquids and powders do not. Our product with PVA is certified biodegradable.
PVA stands for Plolyvinyl Alcohol. PVA is not a petroleum based product, it is a synthetic polymer. It starts as ethylene, a natural gaseous hormone given off by plants that causes the fruit to ripen. It is then turned into vinyl acetate through a chemical reaction with oxygen and acetic acid (in diluted form known as vinegar), then polymerized (bonded to form repeating molecules), and then dissolved in alcohol to become a water-soluble polymer.
To summarize, PVA is not dangerous and if this material reaches the ocean, it is still harmless to fish. It is a polymer (part of "plastic") but bacteria can consume this material and biodegrade (but slowly on its own, thus there is starch added to ours to speed things up). Laundry strips cannot be made without it.
Yes, they are vegan and cruelty free.
Yes, the formula is hypoallergenic.
1 strip equals 1 load (big or small). There's no measuring involved and nothing to spill!
They are packaged in uncoated, recycled paper. The packaging has FSC Certification and is lignin free, made using wind power, chlorine free, and 100% biodegradable and recyclable.

Yes! For a stiff straw or a straw that just won’t open we recommend:
1. Take off the silicone mouthpiece
2. Put it over the other side (for better grip and to avoid getting cut by the piercing point)3. Grab two ends of straw, twist the straw while extending the straw.4. Repeat this a few times.

The sliders are directional! Please ensure you are sliding it closed with the arrow pointing toward the ring. If you are still having troubles, we suggest adding a small amount of vegetable oil to the rim of the bag to allow the slider to glide more easily.
Beeswax Wraps
Beeswax wraps are a sustainable solution to food storage! Check out our blog post What Are Beeswax Wraps and How Do You Use Them? to learn how to care for them and why one should use them.
After some very thorough investigation in all layers of production, here is how we ensure our beeswax is ethically sourced:Beeswax is a byproduct of honey production. Beeswax is produced by (female) worker honeybees. The wax is secreted from wax glands on the underside of the bee's abdomen and is moulded into six sided cells which are filled with honey and then capped with more wax. Bees use their secretion to build new honeycombs and will not use the old honeycombs again because of the metabolism. Also they use their wax to "glue" together the wooden frames in their hive. When honey is harvested, beekeepers take out the wooden frames containing the old honeycombs after all the bees abandon the hive. Then the top layer of wax that covers the cells, the cappings, has to be removed from each hexagon shaped cell.It would be bad to harm or even kill bees when harvesting honey (and wax as a byproduct) because bees are a necessity in agriculture to pollinate a great number of plants. This is an important aspect of apiculture. Further beekeepers would damage their own basis of business when reducing the number of bees by cruelness against their little 'assistants'.Thus in our production, we do not harm our bees (or any other bees) or affect their lives as doing so would be not only unethical and horrible for our planet but 'bad for business'. Therefore we can confirm that the beeswax is produced cruelty free!
Compost Bags
Our bags compost fairly quickly, therefore we suggest disposing of them once a day to every few days.
It takes approximately 180 days to compost in a commercial (ideal) composting environment and 360 days to compost in a home composting environment.
Yes, wet items can go in the bags however, this may speed up the composting process and cause tears in the bag before removal.
Silicone Sealer Lids
All of our silicone products are made from 100% FDA and LFGB certified food grade silicone. They are free of chemicals like BPA, BPS, and other phthalates.
Compost Bins
This is a very common question we receive so we made a post on our blog about it! Please check out Composting: A Beginner's Guide to learn more about composting basics.
About 3 months for peak performance. We do not currently sell replacement filters however they are coming soon.
The compost bins filter dimensions are 13.3cm * 10.5cm * 1cm
We do not suggest this as it will lessen the effectiveness of the filter.
Munchie Box
No, they can not because they are the same height as each other.
Oral Care
Dentists recommend changing your toothbrush every three to four months!
Wool Dryer Balls
This is a hot topic right now in the sustainable fashion world. While not all wool production is done ethically, the well being of our sheep is a top priority and our sheep are having a positive impact on the environment. To learn more about it check out our blog post How is Wool Sustainable? where we discuss both sides of the wool industry and how sheep can help save our planet.
Our dryer balls are guaranteed to last 1000 loads although they tend to last a lot longer!
Hang drying clothes is without a doubt the most sustainable way for drying clothes. It uses less hydro and helps your clothes last longer. Although there are countless reasons one may make the personal choice to use a dryer that can range from not enough space, time constraints, no proper drying environment or even skin sensory issues. We encourage the Net Zero Fam to make a decision that is best for them! Dryer balls are useful as they can significantly reduce drying time therefore reducing the energy demand.
